Liz Bird is a Manager with Global Health Strategies. Liz came to GHS from Planned Parenthood Federation of America where she worked as a communication consultant in the international division. In this capacity, Liz was responsible for integrating international messages into Planned Parenthood’s communications, writing the annual report and building communication strategies around international sexual and reproductive health events.

Prior to working with Planning Parenthood, Liz spent two and a half years working in Malawi, first on a Fulbright Scholarship and then with Partners In Health. With her Fulbright grant, Liz conducted nine months of field research in five rural districts examining HIV prevention programs for young people. With PIH, Liz managed the community health worker (CHW) program in an underserved, rural district in Malawi. She worked to integrate the program into the Malawian Ministry of Health systems and ran the CHW training program.Additionally, Liz developed and implemented a program that expanded the roles of CHWs to include monthly household monitoring for maternal and primary healthcare interventions.

Elizabeth has a B.A. in Human Biology from Brown University. As a student, she studied global health, managed an on-campus professional art gallery, and was a teaching assistant for several courses.
