Senior Program Associate
Karuna Luthra is a Senior Program Associate with GHS Emerging Economies, New Delhi. Prior to coming to GHS, Karuna served as a senior project manager with the Center for Health and Aging at The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) and Pacific Health Summit. At NBR, she led the Center's publications team, coordinating research, and writing and editing a variety of publications on key global health topics including vaccines, maternal and newborn health, and tuberculosis. She played an integral role in the planning and execution of the 2008-2011 annual Pacific Health Summits and interim workshops, and worked with the Summit leadership team to foster collaborations and partnerships between high-level stakeholders from across sectors and regions.
Karuna graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in International Studies and a BS in Public Health. Her studies concentrated on international health and development policy, forced migration, and Hindi language. As an undergraduate, she completed several internships abroad, including in the Dominican Republic, where she taught English and tutored Haitian primary school children, and in Croatia working with Renewing Our Minds, nonprofit committed to leadership development and peace building among young adults in the Balkans.
