Dustyn Winder is an Associate at Global Health Strategies. Dustyn attended the University of Tennessee – Knoxville, and graduated with a B.A. in Global Politics and Economics and a minor in Political Science. While at UT, Dustyn co-lead the Jazz for Justice Project, an advocacy organization for northern Uganda, and worked for the university’s department of public health and the Center for the Study of Youth and Political Conflict on an evaluation of refugee resettlement programs across the United States.
Over the past four years, Dustyn has traveled regularly to East Africa to work with a number of NGOs on projects ranging from community health and human security to the promotion of social entrepreneurship in the Ugandan national curriculum. In 2010, he conceptualized and founded CreatEd:Uganda, a pilot project in two northern Uganda secondary schools to reinvigorate Acholi culture among youth.
Originally a journalism major, in 2007 Dustyn started an online sports blog that quickly amassed a following, averaging over 5,000 visitors daily, and on its best day topping 70,000+. The site was featured in media outlets ranging from Sports Illustrated to Sporting News Radio. Dustyn is an earnest cook, runner, world traveler and avid iPhone photographer.
