Christine McKenna is a Manager at Global Health Strategies. Christine manages and supports strategic advocacy and communications projects for a variety of product development issues. She focuses on projects aimed at accelerating the development and delivery of new health technologies, specifically vaccines for neglected diseases, HPV diagnostics, and microbicides. Christine is also a member of the Duke University Global Health Institute’s Board of Advisors, and assists the Institute with strategic planning and fundraising.
Christine graduated from Duke University with a degree in Public Policy Studies and a certificate in Global Health Studies. Her senior thesis research focused on the development of HIV/AIDS policy in Uganda and South Africa, comparing historic and current policy development processes based on each government’s level of political capital, ability to leverage external resources, and interaction with non-state actors. She also did extensive undergraduate research on refugee health issues, including maternal refugee health and child survival.While at Duke, Christine interned in the Health Unit of the International Rescue Committee, where she worked on reproductive health, environmental health and child survival issues in both Tanzania and at the IRC’s headquarters in New York.
